Ángela Andrade has served as the Chair of the Commission on Ecosystem Management of the International Union for Conservation of Nature since 2016, and Senior Director of Climate Change and Biodiversity Policy at Conservation International in Colombia since 2009.
She previously worked as Director of Ecosystems for the Ministry of Environment and Deputy Director of Geography at the Agustín Codazzí Geographic Institute in Colombia. She is an Anthropologist trained at Universidad de los Andes, with a specialization qualification in Geography and Rural Surveys and an Msc in Ecology from ITC in the Netherlands. She has over 30 years of research experience in ecology and social development and environmental policy. More recently she has been engaged in global advocacy on Ecosystem-based Adaptation and Nature-based Solutions as a response to the biodiversity and climate change crises.
