Alejandra leads FCDS’s capacity-building activities on biodiversity and protected areas with government bodies and social organizations. She also works in a supporting role on the monitoring and reporting of metrics for the projects led and implemented by the Foundation.
She graduated in 2004 with a degree in Environmental Management from Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, Colombia. She has worked for ten years on national and international technical cooperation projects, and has been responsible for their management, execution, planning, monitoring, and coordination. As part of her own research, she has engaged in capacity-building for people working in governmental and non-governmental agencies, as well as for indigenous and rural communities.
She has worked with Corporación Yolanda, WCS Colombia, and Colombia’s National Park authority, where she participated in the design of the Management Plan for the Nevado del Ruíz, Tatáma, and SFF Otún Quimbaya national parks, and in the expansion of the Serranía del Chiribiquete National Park (Amazon Territory). She also served as Coordinator of the Popayán division of the National Park authority (Western Andes Territory).
